What an incredible opportunity! In Class McGough we have been looking at our world and focused on Africa and China!
Today, we visited the Oriental Museum in Durham and took part in lots of exciting and fun activities.
Firstly, we got to handle some traditional chinese clothing such as a dragon robe, hats and shoes.
We then looked at different animals and what they represented. Did you know a fish means you are wealthy and a dragon means you are powerful? We were even tricked by the Buffalo and the Rabbit! Which one do you think means Spring time? It’s the Buffalo!
We then made our very own shadow puppets and had to guess the different animals behind the shadow screen.
After lunch, we were super busy and took part in the Chinese New Year story! Some of us dressed up and looked super cute. We also had a very chilled out Emperor! We did some more research by answering questions around the museum and finally, we did some dragon dancing and played musical instruments.
